V&A Art Book - Essay Design

To mark the launch of a dedicated Warli art exhibition at the V&A, Robot Mascot were asked to create a book design that contained academic text, essays and interviews that presented a rare insight into Warli, a tribal art form from Western India.

To celebrate Warli art in the modern age, the purpose of the book was to accompany exhibitions and also serve as a comprehensive guide to contemporary Warli art and its development. Focusing on the innovative style of Jivya Soma Mashe, who opened up the traditions of Warli to a new iconography, the publication included tracing paper overlay sections that annotated key themes and devices present in individual artworks.
